Let's help more voices be heard
We work alongside organisations that people already know and trust. Here is how we can work together — and what we need from you.
Bring Welcome Voices to your group
We work with refugee and migrant support charities, ESOL and college teams, employability programmes, housing associations and community groups.
What we bring
- Ready-made workshops — a short series of friendly, practical sessions, shaped around your group.
- Experienced facilitation — led by a professional actor and speaking coach.
- Plain-English materials — picture-led handouts that work for different English levels.
- Simple feedback — easy check-ins with participants, shared with you after each series.
- Safe practice — clear consent for photos and stories, and care for people's privacy.
What we ask from you
- Your people — help us invite participants and spread the word.
- A welcoming space — a room where we can move around (and make a bit of noise).
- A friendly face — ideally a staff member or volunteer people know, at least for the first session.
- Language support — interpreters or bilingual volunteers where you can.
- Your insight — tell us what your group needs so we can shape the sessions.
Practical, playful change — measured with care
Our workshops are free for participants. Funding lets us reach more people, in more places, with partners they already trust.
The changes we aim for
Confidence
People feel more confident speaking in front of others.
Communication
People speak more clearly and tell their own story.
Connection
People feel less isolated and more part of their community.
Next steps
People feel readier for interviews, study, volunteering and work.
How we measure change
We keep evaluation simple, kind and accessible — so it never feels like a test.
- Short, picture-based check-ins at the start and end of each series
- Quick reflections from participants in their own words (with consent)
- Feedback from partner staff who know the group
- Attendance and reach figures, shared openly with funders
We are happy to work to your reporting framework, and we will share results from our pilot workshops once they have run.
Common questions
Does it cost our organisation anything?
Workshops are free for participants. For partners, we offer funding options depending on your budget, and where funding is not yet in place, we can talk about joint funding bids.
Is Welcome Voices the same as The Speaking Edge?
No. Welcome Voices is a separate community interest company. It uses the same practical methods as The Speaking Edge, but its purpose is community benefit, and its funding goes back into the community.
Can you work outside Edinburgh?
Yes. We are based in Edinburgh and happy to talk about work across Scotland.
Can we co-apply for funding together?
Yes — we welcome joint bids with partners. Get in touch early so we can plan together.
